helped Susan, a single woman who had fallen on hard times and was living on the streets of Salt Lake City. Susan was doing her best to stay positive but after becoming the victim of a violent crime that nearly took her life, she knew she needed help. She contacted Utah Legal Services where the BEP helped her apply for and receive $261.00 a month in badly needed financial assistance, which in turn qualified her to receive help applying for disability benefits through Social Security. In addition, Susan is receiving $164.00 a month in food stamps and health insurance through Medicaid. Susan is now off the streets and awaiting a decision by Social Security that could bring her even more financial assistance; she is looking forward to a new life.
