helped "Betty", who is a single mother of 5.  "Betty" received assistance from the Benefit Enrollment Project (BEP) and is truly a success story.  She originally called Utah Legal Services (ULS) needing assistance with her divorce and was referred to the BEP after expressing interest in assistance with applying for Food Stamps.  She was cut off from family resources and lacked the income to feed her family and keep a roof over their heads.  The BEP staff contacted "Betty" and assisted her over the phone with the application process.  The BEP then continued to follow up with "Betty" and after 2 weeks she began receiving her Food Stamps, which amounted to $747 a month for her family of six.  The BEP then informed "Betty" about HEAT assistance and helped her fill out the application, through which she received over $600 in HEAT assistance benefits.  "Betty" was very grateful for all the hard work the volunteers provided her in gaining her much needed benefits she didn’t know how to apply for on her own.
