Update from the November ULS Board Meeting
Here's what happened at the ULS Board meeting . . .
Staff Report: Gary Anderson appeared at the board meeting, showed some pictures of the new office and shared information on the staff in Ogden and their work. Brenda Teig has been invited to the next meeting to discuss pro bono projects.
Review of Priorities: The Board reviewed the results of the survey of our partner agencies in the community and approved our core service priorities for another year without change.
Financial Review: The Board adopted a revised budget that includes the new funding we’ve received since the original budget was adopted. This includes the BEP project in Davis County, increased DOJ funding (noting that DOJ funding goes away completely next year), the new AOA grant for Senior work, Recovery Act funds for the Ogden and Provo courthouses and most recently for a 3rd attorney in Ogden, as well as all
the corresponding costs for new staff and benefits that go along with these grants. The Board also reviewed the FY09 audit which is now complete, and the IRS 990 tax return that has now been submitted.
New Member: The Board elected Bart Johnson, a family law attorney from VanCott, to join the Board.
Executive Management Evaluation: Each year staff are excused as the Board discusses the performance of Anne, Ken and Eric (a process that started in July this year, and includes feedback from staff gathered in our evaluation process.) The review of performance was positive, and resulted in the Board changing Eric’s title to “Deputy Director”, which he now shares with Ken.
