Salaries and Benefits 2010

In case you missed the open enrollment meeting yesterday, or in all the excitement missed a detail or two, here is an overview of where we are headed in 2010 in terms of benefits and salaries.

Salaries:

The good news:  the delayed since September longevity increase will take place 1/1/10.  All staff get a raise.  If you've been here less than 6 months your raise is pro-rated.  Your manager has the personnel action form telling you what that means to you.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Eric.

The bad news:  the market and other circumstances don't support our raising starting salaries this year, so there will not be a tiered increase to salaries.  We are looking ahead to the loss of our $360,000 DOJ grant in a year's time, and being cautious and conservative in light of interest rates and other struggles in the general economy that may affect giving and funding opportunities for ULS.

Benefits:

The good news:  ULS will continue to pay $245 in ULS bucks, purchase life insurance for you and dependents, vision coverage for those same people, and a frontrunner and express bus pass for any who need it.  ULS will continue to pay 90% of the health insurance premium for individuals, 80% on two-party coverage and 65% for families.  Dental premiums will also be supplemented in the same amounts as last year.

The bad news:  By tweaking benefits, the health insurance increase is "only" 8%.  The tweaks are;  Max. out of pocket increased to $3,000/$6,000; Emergecy Room Co-pay increased to $150/$200; and Prescription Co-pays increased to $15, $30 and $50.  All other aspects of the plan remain the same.

Other Helpful news:  Check out selecthealth.org and "My Benefits" to see your own plan and use of the plan, to find doctors and hospitals and to look up prescription information.

Dental news:  Bear in mind that there isn't a true open enrollment for the dental plan.  There is a one-year waiting period to add someone to dental.  If you foresee that you will want dental, giving us that notice now allows you or a dependent to get on the plan next year.  There is no obligation if you change your mind in the meantme.

Finally, some important news: Everyone must go to "My Benefits" in CFW, make your selections for 2010, print out and sign that form and return in to SSU by 12/15.  If you make changes to your benefits you will also need to fill out a form for that particular change (for example, a select health form if you switch from Value to Med, or you add or subtract dependents.)  The sooner you can make your choices and get all the forms into SSU, the better.  Again, if you have questions or concerns, please let Eric know.
