Bertie Kee-Lopez, ULS tribal court advocate, has been chosen as a recipient for one of the 10th annual Pete Suazo Social Justice Awards in the area of Community Advocacy and Service.
These awards honor the life of the late Senator Suazo by recognizing the work of those who are dedicated to the goal of social and economic justice.
Past recipients include:
- Mayor Peter Corroon, Salt Lake County - Community Leadership
- Honorable Judge Andrew Valdez – Community Advocacy and Service
- Irene Fisher – Lifetime Community Service
- Pamela Atkinson, Community Advocate – Community Leader
- Reverend France Davis, Calvary Baptist Church – Community Leader
- Judge William A. Thorne, Jr., Utah Court of Appeals – Community Advocacy and Service
Bertie was nominated by her fellow tribal court advocate at ULS, Sheldon Spotted Elk.

Bertie! Congratulations! I always knew you were a big deal around here :). I agree with Sheldon's choice. You are extremely dedicated in your work and deserve all the good things that come your way.
