Need your Office Document in PDF?

Microsoft has an add-in for that!

Have you ever needed your Word, Excel or PPT presentation in PDF?  Don't print and then scan it.  Just convert it from the program itself.  In order to do this, do the following:

  1. Click the Window symbol in the upper left hand corner of the program ;
  2. Go to "Save As";
  3. If available, go to "PDF or XPS"; (if not available, see below)
  4. Give it a name and click "Publish".  Your document will open in PDF so you can preview it.

If "PDF or XPS" is not available

If you did not have "PDF or XPS" as one of your options, in its place you will have the option to "Find Add-ins for other file formats".  Click on that and do the following:

  1. Click on "Install and Use the Save As PDF or XPS add-in from Microsoft;
  2. Click on "Go to the Microsoft Save As PDF or XPS Add-in for 2007 Microsoft Office Programs and follow the instructions";
  3. Click "Download";
  4. Click "Run";
  5. Click "Run" (yes, you will have two separate boxes come up, both with the option to "run");
  6. Put a check mark in the box just in front of "Click here to accept . . . license";
  7. Click "Continue";
  8. You will eventually get a box that says something like "Installation is complete".  Click "OK"

In each Office Program, you should now have the "PDF or XPS" option as discussed above.

Hope you find this useful.  If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
