Good News Blogging
I know eventually I'll have to relay bad news, it's bound to happen one day, but for now it's nice to be able to let you know that we have more good news to report on the funding front.
We received word today that our Deparment of Justice grant (Fund: 50), which pays for most of our work with victims of domestic violence, has been renewed for 2009-2010 in the amount of $360,000. That's double, a full $180,000 more than we had budgeted. We also got a phone call that we received funding from Davis County SSBG to continue the Benefits Enrollment Program and increase outreach in that County, $10,500. All this on the heels of the AOA award of $100,000/year for three years for Senior Citizen work and a hot line. So that's nearly $300,000 added to the revenue side of the budget since the July start of the fiscal year.
We are waiting to hear about a VAWA recovery act grant we just submitted and of course watching to see what our friends in DC will do with the LSC budget. We may need to go back to the board with a revised budget in November. What a great problem to have.
I will temper the news by pointing out that in 2010-2011 we already know that our DOJ grant drops to 0. That was one of the terms of the 5 year award we got from them in 2005. So, we'll be looking at ways to stretch these new funds into that gap. Meanwhile, we'll just enjoy sharing the good news.
